W9.1 : Government
1) Summary
The government is the system that governs the country. The government consists mainly of the legislature, the executive branch, and the judiciary, where many policies are created and implemented. Types of government include democracy, totalitarianism, and authoritarianism, and forms of government include monarchy, aristocracy, theocracy, and democracy. Most of them exist in a mixture of these forms, and the government strives to gain political power through methods such as elections or hereditary succession. The history of government began about 5,000 years ago and has been changed to suit the environment so far, and it is difficult to define it accurately because the form of government varies slightly depending on society and history.
2) An interesting point
It was surprising that democracy was the most popular form of government until 1997, and that the world was not following that form of democracy, but was retreating democratically. In general, I thought we would prefer a democratic way because we are fighting for human rights and power. However, it was questionable that governments were becoming authoritarian.
3) Question
Why do governments prefer authoritarian states?
An authoritarian state has a centralized control system that allows the government to control all aspects of the state. This can provide stability to governments, minimize social instability, and increase the efficiency of decision-making and enforcement. In authoritarian countries, governments can coordinate economic activities and establish planned development policies. This can help promote the country's development and economic growth. Governments can efficiently allocate resources and focus on the economic sector to strengthen the country's competitiveness. Authoritarian states can contribute to maintaining social harmony and unity through control. Governments can play a role in integrating various interests and differences, and minimizing social conflict. This can help maintain national stability and social harmony. In authoritarian countries, governments have strong power, which can be advantageous in maintaining political stability and staying in power. This can increase responsiveness to external threats or internal disturbances.
