Sociology is a discipline with multiple research approaches, mainly involving the quantitative approach of scientistic empiricism and the humanistic approach of understanding, which are opposed to each other and interconnected to develop and improve a body of knowledge about the structure and activities of human society, with the main goal of using this knowledge to seek or improve social welfare.
