W15.2 Introduction to Sociology/Demography
1. Summarization
Demography is the study of human populations. That includes size, structure and changes over time. It helps explain different social phenomena. It is based on data taken from countries' registration statistics. Important demographic indicators include birth and death rates, migration trends and fertility rates. Fertility rates are influenced by factors such as women's education, the cost of raising children and a country's level of development. Mortality rates are affected by factors such as education, wealth and race. The demographic transition theory describes the change from high birth and death rates to low rates because a specific society would have developed economically. Overpopulation occurs when the population exceeds the resources available. Population growth is currently the highest in relatively less developed countries.
2. What was interesting/what did you learn?
I think demographics is not something people tend to think about normally. At least for me personally. It's therefore interesting to give it more attention, as it has quite a big long-term impact on society. Including issues we will face in the future, which are related to demography. The different forms of a graph of the population of a country. The birth and death rates. It causes changes per societal circumstances.
The global population has been rising very steeply looking at it relatively. On the other hand, in a lot of more developed countries, the population without migration is decreasing. Which leads to big issues of exhausting current systems. For example, pensions, which aren't sustainable for future generations. Should we decrease, increase, and stabilize the population per country? And should we solve population gaps in generations with migration?

Introduction to Information Sociology

I think that issues related to population change should be approached from various aspects, taking into account sustainable development and social stability. Some areas may require population reduction and stabilization, while others may require population growth and narrowing the population gap. The important thing is to harmonize the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the region and the country.
ReplyDeleteEach country must take a coordinated approach to its social, economic, and environmental situation and population change. For sustainable development and social stability, I think we should comprehensively review and apply the policies and measures necessary to reduce, increase and stabilize the population.
