W15.2 Demography

1. Summary

 Demographics is the study of demographic dynamics, and demographic analysis can relate to small groups defined by criteria such as society as a whole or education and ethnicity. Demographics are necessary to explain sociological phenomena on a macro and/or social level. Demographic analysis is a powerful tool for explaining many sociological phenomena. Demographics rely primarily on census and huge datasets derived from registration statistics such as birth, death and marriage registration. Developing demographic trends requires large datasets over time. It remains difficult to collect reliable demographic data in many countries, especially developing countries.

 

2. Interesting point

  It was interesting that the world's population, including Korea, is still on the verge of population decline due to low birthrates and aging, along with the prediction that food in Mersus will increase exponentially and poverty due to overpopulation. It was also really confusing that even if we try to recover from this serious low birth rate and overcome the low birth rate, this could also worsen overpopulation. Then, should we implement a policy to lower the birth rate in countries with high birth rates? In fact, South Korea imposed birth policy restrictions in the 1960s and 1970s, but in just a few decades, it has been suffering from a serious low birth rate. Questions arose about how to balance the problem of overpopulation between countries with low birth rates and countries with high birth rates.

 

3. Question

 What are the ways to solve the problem of overpopulation while solving the declining birthrate?
