 The sociology of religion is the study of the beliefs, practices, and organizational forms of religion using the tools and methods of the discipline of sociology. The sociology of religion differs from the philosophy of religion in that it does not assess the validity of religious beliefs. Religion has the role of uniting society. There are many religious groups in society, including churches, denominations, sects, cults, new religious movements, and institutionalized denominations. The sociology of religion is widely spread around the world as people try to understand the relationship between religion and globalization. It is widely believed that modernization and capitalism will weaken the influence of religion. However, with globalization, many different cultures have begun to study different religions and integrate different beliefs into society. Religion not only shapes large-scale social institutions such as governments and social movements, it also plays a role in everyday life such as family, race, gender, class, and age
