W4.2 Introduction to Sociology/Culture
1.Summary
Culture is closely related to humans. It also affects human evolution. They also feel a sense of belonging through their group actions. These cultural elements can also easily spread to other groups. A culture that so many people use is called popular culture. Conversely, elite high-end culture contrasts with popular culture. And there are subcultures that only a few people use, anti-cultures that challenge or contradict major cultures. It is a group of individuals who think that subordinate cultures and anti-cultures have been ignored in society, and they sometimes show their membership through their unique and symbolic style. This article also explains cultural changes. Reasons for cultural change may include changes in the environment, inventions of something, or contact with other cultures. However, these changes are not only bad, but also good ways to go.
2. New point
It was good that I was able to learn new things about the origin of culture. Culture can also explain human evolution. Through the evolutionary process, people say that symbolic systems were created, and these symbolic systems began to develop independently of biological evolution as they were learned and taught. Therefore, culture is important because it also provides many kinds of data on human activities.
3.Questions
Subculture means that a small number of people show their own characteristics and identity. What perception do you have of subculture?
