1)Summary
Sociology as a branch of the social
sciences, is a body of knowledge about the structure and activities of human
society. Sociology is a discipline with multiple research approaches, mainly
involving the quantitative approach of scientistic empiricism and the
humanistic approach of understanding, which are opposed to each other and
interconnected to develop and improve a body of knowledge about the structure
and activities of human society, with the main goal of using this knowledge to
seek or improve social welfare. Because of its historical background, the study
of sociology focuses in large part on the various realities of life in modern
society, or how contemporary society has evolved to the present day, not only describing
the current situation, but also not ignoring social change. The study of
sociology covers a wide range of subjects, from the smallest daily interactions
of a few people face to face, to the largest social trends and trends of
globalization. Families, organizations of all kinds, economies such as
enterprises and factories, cities, markets, political parties, nations,
cultures, media, etc. are all objects of sociological research, and the common
denominator of these objects of study is some social facts of a social nature.
2) Interesting point
Theoretical and Any kind of scientific
research requires a scientific method. Any scientific results can be obtained
only by using scientific methods. In the process of development of social
sciences, like natural sciences, there is always a constant innovation and
improvement of research methods.
1. The characteristics of qualitative
analysis
Qualitative analysis is to understand the
quality of things, to find the essential connection of things. The so-called
quality refers to the internal characteristics of a thing that make it its own
and distinguish it from other things. Only on the basis of distinguishing
things from substances, and further examining the quantity of things, can we
achieve a clear and accurate understanding of things and their quality.
Therefore, on the basis of qualitative analysis of things, quantitative
analysis of things, is the deepening and precision of understanding.
2. The characteristics of quantitative
analysis
Quantitative analysis refers to the quantitative
analysis of things. Quantity refers to the size of things, the degree of
development, speed, as well as its components in the spatial arrangement of the
combination and so on can be expressed in quantitative terms. Just as the
quality is multifaceted, the quantity of things is also multifaceted.
Therefore, people can only grasp the amount of things according to the
objective needs of practice.
3) Discussion point
How can sociology help us in our lives?
I believe that sociology can help we understand others. The world is full of different races, lifestyles, cultures, histories and etc. As we conduct research related to this, I believe that we can learn to understand and respect those who live in a different environment than ours. Based on this, I also think that we will be able to learn how to communicate with people and lay the foundation for developing society.
